Hopi Human History or Myth & Metaphor

Right here in the American backyard we may find clues to the 12.21.2012 mystery in the Hopi Indians. Are their stories, myth, legends, and oral traditions prophetic insight or just made up stuff? If their stories are true they are scary to say the least and an ominous precursor to what may be on our immediate radar screen. So, what does their story of the history of the earth tell us?

According to the Hopi lore, we are living in the 4th world. Furthermore, what happened to the first three?
Don’t ask, don’t tell might be the better path to take.

The first world was destroyed by FIRE, the second world was destroyed by was destroyed by FREEZING ICE, and the third world was destroyed by a FLOOD. Of course the Bible would agree on the world having been destroyed by water or flooding and that’s something the people in Fargo, North Dakota probably thinkthinksthought is happening to them right now. Therefore, much for their historical recollections, but what about this fourth world that we’re now living in?

Would you believe it’s coming to an end, but the good news is that there is a fifth world on the way?

The Hopi lived in the NOW, and has been long before Eckhart Tolle ever became popular with his book. An expect on the Hopi, Benjamin Lee Whorf writes, “For the Hopi, time disappears and space is altered, so that it is no longer the homogenous and instantaneous timeless space of our supposed intuition or of classical Newtonian mechanics.” In other words, the Hopi did not have a past tense, nor a future tense because everything is happening NOW.

The Hopi language is the same for what IS and what has happened.

So, what do we do with that? What do we do with the fact that they, like the Mayans, and so many other ancient civilizations see the year 2012 as a major transition for our planet? Do we blow it all off as myth and metaphor or do we study more diligently their culture and seek for clues that just may be in plain sight if we’d lift the curtain of bias about December 21,2012?

Watch the video related to hopi

FROM THE ORIGINAL UPLOADER: Here are some videos I came across one day. They were taken in 1986 at an elementary school. I found it very weird to watch it 23 years later and see how much the world had changed. I’ll bet the man is still alive. He can definitely understand it now better than in 1986. The following was taken from a description from the 5th video in the list: The Hopi maintain a complex religious and mythological tradition stretching back over centuries. However, it is difficult to definitively state what all Hopis as a group believe. Like the oral traditions of many other societies, Hopi mythology is not always told consistently and each Hopi mesa, or even each village, may have its own version of a particular story. But, “in essence the variants of the Hopi myth bear marked similarity to one another.” It is also not clear that those stories which are told to non-Hopis, such as anthropologists and ethnographers, represent genuine Hopi beliefs or are merely stories told to the curious while keeping safe the Hopi’s more sacred doctrines. As folklorist Harold Courlander states, “there is a Hopi reticence about discussing matters that could be considered ritual secrets or religion-oriented traditions.” David Roberts continues that “the secrecy that lies at the heart of Puebloan [including Hopi] life…long predates European contact, forming an intrinsic feature of the culture.” In addition, the Hopis have always been willing to assimilate foreign religious ideas …
