Artificial Diamonds

September 1st, 2009 Posted in Diamond | No Comments »

Artificial Diamonds. Diamonds as they say are a girl’s best friend and buying the perfect diamond ring should not be a problem for anyone. Usually any kind of diamond ring will do just so long as you get a big diamond on the ring you will be fine. However there have been people that feel an artificial diamond or man made diamond are different from mined diamonds and therefore they feel that the quality will suffer because of this. However there is nothing to fear because an artificial or man made diamond is still chemically the same as a mined diamond.

In fact it can be very hard for people to tell the difference between an artificial diamond and a mined diamond. This can create problems for many people because at the end of the day if you are going to treat someone to a diamond ring then you are going to want the real thing and nothing artificial. While it is unlikely that artificial diamond rings will replace mined diamond rings there still remains the fact that these man made diamond rings are still much cheaper then their mined counterparts.

Sandcast Native American Indian Jewelry

August 25th, 2009 Posted in Native American Jewelry | No Comments »

Sandcast Native American Indian jewelry making was first introduced by Navajo silversmiths in the early days around 1840. The process begins by using a sandcast, or tufa stone mold, then carving the design into the stone. With this mold, a piece of silver jewelry is made and may become the master template from which all other sandcast jewelry pieces of the same design are produced.

Sandcast jewelry making is done by hand and is very labor intensive. The Sandcasting method takes the artisans about three days to make a fair sized medium bracelet.

How To Choose The Correct Diamond Blade

August 23rd, 2009 Posted in Diamond | No Comments »

Diamond blades can be used for the concrete of cutting, brick, the block, the stone and other materials with the similar properties. A diamond blade is composed of core out of steel (to the difference of the diamond wire) and of powder metal which is combined with the crystals of diamond and then heated and tightened in a frame which form the diamond segments, also known under the name of “teeth of cutting” of the blade. The diamond segments are then welded with the steel core.

The steel core can change in the design. Some of them have spaces (known under the name of oesophagi) between each segment to provide cooling and the removal of mud, whereas others have a rim continues simple for a softer piece-free cutting. The type of core which must be employed depends on the type of materials which will be cut. A diamond blade really does not cross, instead of that it rectifies. They have rectangular teeth (segments) which contain diamond crystals on the end of each segment to rectify by very hard materials.

Choosing a diamond is an extremely personal decision. The most important part of choosing a diamond is to choose one that appeals to you personally. While choosing a diamond you should consider these factors shape, cut and clarity. Remember that choosing a diamond is not an exact science. For most people, the most important consideration when choosing a diamond is price. True, choosing a diamond is all up to the buyer’s taste, but an expert’s opinion definitely counts.

Bracelets Through The Ages

August 22nd, 2009 Posted in Artifact | 1 Comment »

The earliest bracelets date back to around 2500 BC and were those worn by the Sumerians in southern Mesopotamia. Bracelets, necklaces, anklets, finger rings and ear rings made the women of Sumer into show windows of their husband’s prosperity. Bracelets were found in the tombs of Ur where it was customary to bury royalty with their jewellery and unfortunately their poor servants.

By about 2000 BC, in Ancient Egypt, bracelets emerged as major pieces of jewellery. Bracelets were found in the ruins from the Vesuvias eruption in Pompeii in 79 AD.
It was during the age of the Egyptian Pharaohs that charm bracelets were first seen although charms themselves dated back as far as the Neolithic era when men would gather unusual bits of wood or pieces of stone which would be carried about their person in order to ward off their enemies. So these charms were considered ‘lucky charms’ and powerful protectors against evil.
